Liberty versus Control

Bruce Schneier’s latest essay on privacy is a thing of beauty:

“For if we are observed in all matters, we are constantly under threat of correction, judgment, criticism, even plagiarism of our own uniqueness. I think I stood there for a good couple of minutes trying to think where I had actually parked before reality dawned on me and I muttered a few choice expletives. I made the requsite calls to the police and my insurance company and an officer is coming round tonight to take my statement. It’s been flagged stolen so if it passes any traffic cameras etc. it should trigger an alert, but i’m not getting my hopes up.

I took great care of that car, I think my worst fear is a call saying they’ve found it burnt out somewhere after a joyride, that would be worse than never seeing it again.

Bastards.
