I’m very close to just giving up on cars and cycling everywhere.
After the theft of my previous vehicle back in August I attempted to buy a new Smart, but after it broke down on me 3 times before it had been in my possesion more than 3 days I’d had enough and have demanded a full refund. So now i’m back to being sans transport.
I’m quite tempted by the new Fiesta body shape, but the frugal side of me is trying to lead me towards a second hand Fiesta Zetec S (like my old one) or perhaps a slightly more extravagant ST.
If i do go for second hand I may treat myself to a new Nikon D90 SLR with some of the savings, so that might help seal the deal.
After locking up after work on Friday I walked back to my car, which had been parked in a side street close to my workplace – I was a little distracted typing something on my iPhone, so it was only when I was standing right next to the empty space where my car should have been I realized it wasn’t there.
I think I stood there for a good couple of minutes trying to think where I had actually parked before reality dawned on me and I muttered a few choice expletives. I made the requsite calls to the police and my insurance company and an officer is coming round tonight to take my statement. It’s been flagged stolen so if it passes any traffic cameras etc. it should trigger an alert, but i’m not getting my hopes up.
I took great care of that car, I think my worst fear is a call saying they’ve found it burnt out somewhere after a joyride, that would be worse than never seeing it again.
