
The move to the new host (Servage.net) went fairly well – considering I could only find 5 or 10 minutes here and there to work on things. The site was running so slow on Network Solutions that I often lost patience before I’d even started to write a post (well, that’s my excuse) so hopefully the change of servers should liven things up a bit around here. Things seem pretty snappy so far – but then compared to Network Solutions a 56k modem and Win 95 PC would be an improvement.
There are still a few issues I need to sort out so you might see some changes here and there for a day or two, but nothing too drastic (hopefully)

Firefox 3 is officially out…kinda – the servers seem to be taking awhile to sync up – I just downloaded 3, refreshed the page and was taken back to the old 2 download page
Still, try and grab it from the official site if you can, help the Mozilla folks break that world record.

The second release candidate for Firefox 3 is out – And all being well this could be the final RC before the official release.
I’ve been using the PortableApps version of the last RC for awhile and – other than some badly coded backwater websites – not had any serious problems. The new rendering engine and background tweaks make it feel a lot snappier than the last version of firefox and i’ve hardly gone back to my old install at all.

Speaking of Hosts, I’ll probably be moving to a new one soon, Network Solutions is just too unresponsive. Right now I’m looking at Servage.net – they have a bunch of features for a very nice price.

My host may be slow as molasses in January, but at least it hasn’t blown up recently:
“This evening at 4:55pm CDT in our H1 data center, electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding our electrical equipment room. Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.”
